The ESADE BBA Application: All the Steps, Explained

Application planning at a desk

ESADE's Bachelor of Business Administration is one of Europe's most selective undergraduate business programs, and admission is holistic — no single number gets you in. Here's the full process and where the admission test fits.

ESADE is private and has no minimum entry grades; it weighs your whole profile. Confirm current steps and deadlines on ESADE's official site.

The steps

1. Online application (+ €150 fee). Create an account on ESADE's admissions portal and complete the form. The application fee is non-refundable.

2. Academic record. Your transcripts from the last few years. Progression, the rigour of your courses and subject choices all matter — not just the headline GPA.

3. Admission test. The ESADE Admission Test (3-hour, multiple-choice, negative marking, three reasoning areas), or the SAT/ACT. This is the most coachable part of the application.

4. Motivation essay. Often the differentiator. ESADE wants to understand who you are beyond grades — your journey, why ESADE and the BBA specifically, and what you'll bring to the community.

5. Personal interview. Around 30 minutes, in person in Barcelona or by video. Expect questions on your motivations, goals and fit.

6. English proficiency. TOEFL iBT (≈90+), IELTS (≈6.5+), Cambridge B2 First or equivalent, depending on the programme section.

Rounds and timing

ESADE admits in rounds — Early Decision, Round 1 and later — across roughly October to June, or until places fill. Earlier rounds have more spots, and most scholarships go to the earliest applicants. Apply as early as you're genuinely ready.

Where to focus your energy

Three of these steps are largely fixed by the time you apply (your record), or are about authenticity (essay, interview). The admission test is the one you can most move with preparation — and it's reasoning, which responds well to timed practice. A strong test result is also what most reliably strengthens a borderline academic profile.
